  • 240g Rice Chex cereal
  • 220g creamy peanut butter
  • 160g dark chocolate chips
  • 100g vanilla whey protein powder
  • 100g powdered sugar
  • Optional: Reese’s pieces or candy corn (about 75g) for holiday flair

Around the holidays my family likes to make treats similar to this one! I thought for Halloween it would be fun to make a higher protein version to snack on with our friends or hand out in treat bags.

This can be tailored to any holiday with the mix-ins you choose to add, or you can have it plain! This time I used Reese’s pieces to add the Halloween colors. 

Instructions

  1. Place cereal into a large mixing bowl.
  2. In a small saucepan on low heat melt the peanut butter and chocolate chips together.
  3. Pour the peanut butter chocolate mixture over the cereal and stir with a wooden spatula to coat the pieces.
  4. Spread onto a parchment lined cookie sheet and let cool about 15 minutes. This is when you can sprinkle in the Reese’s Pieces or candy corn if you wish to use them.
  5. In a gallon size ziplock bag add the protein powder and powdered sugar and mix well.
  6. Add the cereal mixture into the ziplock, seal well and shake until all the pieces are coated.
  7. Lay back out on the same parchment lined cookie sheet to fully cool/dry before storing.
  8. To store, put into a ziplock or airtight container and leave at room temperature. Make sure it is completely dry and cooled though or it will condensate and lose its crunch.
