Goal
I joined WAG to lean out, become comfortable in my skin and learn more about nutrition. I've been maintaining my weight within a +/- 1-2 kg range.

In 2017 when I started WAG I felt that I had lost my self in a vicious loop of bad habits. I worked shifts as a resident in OB/GYN. I had a hard time to find time for training, when I worked out I had zero energy, I felt tired all the time and was lost in different low-carb diets. My body was worn out and unhealthy even though I felt I ate a "healthy diet". I was lost in a body that I didn't like, that was weak even though I worked out at the local CrossFit gym 3-4 times a week and I didn't like the habits I had grown used to.
The shift from a low-carb diet to a high carb diet was a game-changer to me. I had the possibility to eat more than I had done in years and still improve my body composition. I instantly felt that my coach had my back, that she cared about me and that she acted out of love and respect. She saw me and my needs, much more than I did myself. I also felt that I could let my coach take responsibility for the amounts of food that I ate and the progress that I made. I felt that if I do my job i.e. eat my assigned number of macros and work out as planned, my coach is responsible for the other part. To me, it was amazing to have someone to share the responsibility with, and that helped me to find new ways to measure my progress when I only looked at the scale and my body composition. My energy levels peaked. I had the energy to work out. I ran a marathon in 2017. And in 2018 I did several half-Marathons, one Marathon, two half-Ironman-races and my first Ironman. Even though still working shifts I had the energy to live outside work, doing physical accomplishments that I would never dream of doing a year before. Having a coach that sometimes pushed me, and in other times pulled the brake, and being more disciplined with food and training was my recipe to success when being a shift worker.
To be honest. I can talk myself warm over all the physical accomplishments I have done the last two years. But what has changed me the most is that my coach has helped me to find ways to measure my progress that is not a number on a scale, a number on a measuring tape or the time it takes to run a certain distance but within myself.
I have learned and still work on:
- how to re-define progress
- accepting myself for who I am and what I have been given
- listening to my body - rest and recovery are as important as training
- feeling gratitude for what my body can do - I have run one marathon, one half-IM and one IM the last 3 months.
- consistency, not perfection
- understanding that progress is not linear and to enjoy the process and not only aiming for the goal.
I'm beyond thankful for the help that I have got from my coach and from team WAG. You guys have changed my life in more ways than you think. THANK YOU!
